A petition has been launched to try to persuade Cambridgeshire County Council to reverse the cuts it has made to winter gritting this year. Please sign it at https://signme.org.uk/1277 and share the link with friends and neighbours!
On Tuesday 13 December the county council will debate a motion put forward by Cllr Lucy Nethsingha calling on the council to reinstate gritting routes, particularly to schools and to villages which would otherwise be cut off. The more signatures on the petition before Tuesday, the better. Thank you!

Bad enough that pavements don’t get gritted so pedestrians have to walk on the road for safety(!!!) e.g. Castle Hill, Cambridge. Please, think where our money is going to if basic gritting is now is being cut. Your tax payers are starting to question more and more decisions re ‘cuts’ especially where basics services that were originally in place and paid for now go by the board.
Hi before I sign the petition could you tell me what you would stop doing so you could afford to pay for it please ?
It’s really easy to say what you would do but harder to say what you wouldn’t instead
Thanks
Jon
Interestingly, it now appears that the routes could be reinstated today! See http://lornadupre.mycouncillor.org.uk/2016/12/13/winter-gritting-lib-dem-campaign-pays-off/ for an update.
I’d prefer the local councils aided the care system than gritting roads
