Road resurfacing cuts

Caution, Cone, Orange, Traffic, White, Warning, Road

Elizabeth Court and The Orchards in Sutton, and Cross Lane in Little Downham, will now not be resurfaced this coming year, due to ‘budget adjustments and constraints’ at the County Council.

They are now being put forward for the 2022 programme.

Is this an early outcome of the £7.5M cut to highways maintenance in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough I reported on recently? I’m trying to find out more, including what other cuts to local road repairs we can expect this coming year.

If road surfacing cuts have been made for The Orchards, Sutton, why did signs go up yesterday 15/3/21 to say no parking between 7am and 6pm on 16 & 17 March? No notice through the door to say why or what’s going on. Could you shed some light on this please ?

Good morning, Kim. I think this is a straightforward council error which I’m now seeking to get corrected. The Orchards Witcham is due to be resurfaced this week, and I think the contractors putting out the signs may have simply picked the wrong The Orchards. I am waiting for a response from council officers and will let you know when I receive an answer. Best wishes, Lorna
